There is a frequency that exists beneath the reach of language. A quiet accumulation of what precedes speech; a presence that resists the capture of a name. Low Murmurs is a gathering of works that reside within this threshold. A study of the space between visibility and obscurity. These paintings do not demand to be seen, they ask to be felt. They hover in a state of becoming, where the figure emerges only to recede, and faces turn away or dissolve into the grain of the surface. To look is to encounter a refusal of certainty. What is rendered is only ever a fragment, what is felt extends far beyond the canvas. The works move through the interiority of memory, tension and the stillness of displacement. There is a deliberate insistence here on the act of looking, while honoring the right to not fully know. The Collection Each piece is a singular, considered object constructed slowly, held in a state of tension and released only at the point of resolution. This is a limited body of work, once these pieces find their place they will not be revisited. These paintings are intended to be lived with. They are made to shift quietly within a home, unfolding over years through return glances and shared silence. Here, silence is never an absence it is a charged weight, carrying history and a continuous, low frequency presence. Low Murmurs is both a continuation of a practice and an invitation: to remain with what does not immediately resolve.
